Is the system more important than a person’s life?

Is the system more important than a person's life?

How many times are we told to hold back, to work according to the principles, how many times are we told that valor is for the movies, to not try and act "heroic" because it doesn't work in real life?

"Smart people rule the world...."

Don't show sympathy, don't give false hope, don't get attached, don't show emotions, just do what uncountable others have done, do what sells, do what the fucking system tells you is right, this system is in place because it works, because it saves lives.

What about the ones it kills though?
What about the ones who could've been saved if we had been "heroic"? If we had been rebellious, if we had set a new path, instead of following a centuries old one?

"....but reckless and stubborn people protect it"

Why do we become so envious of change as we grow? When we had been in the same place only a while ago? Why don't we let others set precedents just because we weren't able to set them when we were in their place?

And if "change" and "newness" are so bad, why is our cowardice punished? Why are we blamed for our inability to take responsibility, for being afraid?

"May there be shame in your cowardice, may there be pride in your bravery"
